wild oats is proud to present the kmfh debut album the boat party. after a year of collaborative releases, kyle hall, under the alias kmfh, has produced a debut album, a fusion of original work, sample tracks, and raw edits. the boat party album artwork pokes fun at european summer boat parties and juxtaposes the destitute state of detroit and its recent proneness to discarded luxury in financial crises. mainly, the inability to leave and the sometimes pleasant isolation of a boat party is what the album exudes. the listener has a certain commitment to the material which definitely has its place on the dance floor. you can find tracks that have soulful, funky, and organic feels, while others have a more abstract, mechanical, and robotic sentiments. the boat party was carefully constructed which makes the album a cohesive mix of soulful etherealness and roughly raw sounds, kmfhs cueing into the true aspects of detroit.

deadly poison is the fourth installment of st petersburg-based producer sanys on discerning downfall theory series. retaining to the a/b format and treading a heady, analogue-hued line with releases thus far on predecessors control freak / event horizon, forward thinking logic and daily situation which supported a stunning rework from chicago-based, detroit-born producer alex israel, deadly poison continues to march on in gritty, idiosyncratic fashion only this time fractioning off and multiplying into four distinct, yet symbiotic floor workouts. on the a-side hired guns kicks off with no-holds barred, full-on weighty bass weaponry before grab them back in reins things in, just a little: a dystopic soundtrack full of clanging machines rung through with the filmy dread of a waning humanity. on the b-side concern continues in plain rude as distorted vocals are twisted into evil barks and plied with itchy hats to warning chimes and a bounding bassline in this weird and wonky builder. down and dirty then concludes—as the title suggests—in deep, raw analogue terrain. having already caught the attention of people like blawan, rivet and brendon moeller, deadly poison consolidates sanys skills as a one to watch maker of provocative, sensitive and fiercely independent dance music.

our second release of 2013 comes from lovers rights, the glasgow based-trio featuring members of golden teacher, silk cut & dam mantle. on this, their debut release for high sheen, they have laid down 4 killer house cuts spawned from improvisation heavy, free flowing electronic jams and completed with painstaking attention to detail. from the raw, rolling subs of urn to the complex multi textured synth patterns of mt. florida, each track has its own individual identity all the while working together within the cohesive whole of the ep. this is electronic dance music built with dancefloor freakouts in mind and we absolutely love it. the 12 inch comes packaged in a twice hand screen printed, roughcast sleeve, designed by sam bellacosa.

next up on local talk we got a raw peak hour jam from liverpool producer dale howard (lost my dog, large, morris/audio, off rec). there is nothing light or fluffy about these tracks, its just dirty straight up house music with a dark 90s basement feel. for the main track we actually chose the dub version of throwback over of the original mix. we just thought this version was soooo freakin raw even though its more stripped than the original version. you’ll see what we mean when you drop it in the club! the second track in out goes along the same house theories as throwback with jackin beats and deep chords that will do wonders in any authentic house basement. all in all, a might fine release of classic local talk house music. enjoy!

for our third release, we are joining forces with bristol stalwart - kowton - finding the link between two genres that are very close to our hearts - grime & techno. built as an ode to ruff sqwads raw 2 da core, kowton is able to build up and take down the rough and rugged aesthetic that is found within both genres in just over 5 minutes. on the flip, taking on the original is blawan and pariahs collaborative project - karenn (sheworksthelongnights). keeping true to the spirit of uk techno, they manage to translate the raw and grimey quality of the original through a heap of analogue gear, all in one take.

first pressing in dark red vinyl! in remarkably short time, van bonn has developed a well-deserved reputation as a forward-thinking dub music producer. he is tying up electronic listening music with dance music structures for the german label telrae and trapez since 2011, but his newest invention van bonn01 is another step forward. van bonn records now for the first time provides him with a platform, that is his own. it is a sound laboratory pushing his ideas as well as giving him the possibility to feature like minded people. the first edition on vinyl, comes in dark red with a nice artwork. gradient (cph dub) shows a new side with van bonn, expressing a certain form of industrial & romantic privacy in a very radical way. his epic 12 minute track explores the time and space continuum in ways of symmetry. this is a perfect extension of what we know from various dub techno productions of the past. rich filtered delays balanced with a monotony of a mighty & distant beat, makes it an hypnotic piece of music. gradient in its original version is the more hardish and forceful..companion of the a-side, being more raw an direct. van bonn uses here a lot of fx sounds to build a bubble which perfectly embeds the stomping machine liked beat. the >do not resist the beat< owner milton bradley and artist on prologue (and more) has delivered a remix of >gradient< in his genuine style avoiding commercialism and creating his own atmospheric, claustrophobic, cinematic style of techno. listen here to his remix for van bonn.

innercity records is the new label from mark horsfall (horsey brothers/amenti music/kaluki) and danny stott (aka roland nights - amenti music/lost my dog). the label, based in manchester and launching in early april, will release a series of various artist eps. volume 1 features 6 artists that represent the very best of what the deep house scene has to offer right now - the well established giom features on the vinyl release with dale howard , leigh d oliver and roland nights, while young brazilian star gutto serta and welshman casey lee jones complete the digital release which will follow a month later. mark and danny state, innercity is born out of a raw passion for proper house music. remaining true to the spirit of house music is our primary aim, which does not involve trying to strictly emulate the music of days gone by but finding house music made out of love for the dance floor.

following up on the success of amir alexanders idiot savant masterpieces, vanguard sound continues the struggle onward with snakes, heat and concrete by chris mitchell. raw, underground and forward continues to be the direction.

chicago legend jamal moss makes a return to sequencias with two tracks of overdriven angularity in his most jacking incarnation, the sun god. if you know jamal, then you are aware that no other artist has informed electronic rhythm-based music quite like he has. the current crop of raw, low-fi house and techno owes a large share of its existence to his releases under various monikers: hieroglyphic being, ibm, and as one half of africans with mainframes.

slowly but surely spencer parkers work them label has been gaining a deserved reputation as a no nonsense house and techno imprint thanks to releases from the likes of pittsburgh track authority and dana ruh. now it is the turn of the s:vt who serves up one track, basement sweat, complete with a remix, which will then be followed by a separate 12 inch featuring two remixes from arttu. the original track pairs classic, piled-on-top-of-each other claps with a freewheeling melody that runs up and down the scale. the bottom end is streamlined and techno inclined, bringing with it plenty of raw warehouse vibes. the no strings attached mix loses the melody and ups the percussive ante, chopping up and slicing out patterns as that bottom end continues to burrow on.

raw analogue alchemies delivered with all the sleek and polish of its black-on-black casing made bryan blacks edlx debut last year as blackasteroid a truly memorable one, consolidating all of the motor mans proven paisley park-honed engineering capabilities into a succinct and forward-facing ep. defined by its gritty textures, fizzy white noise manipulations and a signature mechanical hum throughout, black acid achieved a uniquely tactile sound quality, reaffirming bryan black as a formidable one to watch under his revised blackasteroid guise.

3 track 12 from new but not new artist anno stamm. an alias of berlin producer lars stöwe aka anstam who has been one of our favourite producers around all city towers these last few years. original with a capital o, anno stamm is allowing him to fiddle about in the undergrowth even further. raw and twisted, dark with a dash of colour and heavy with the drums. 3 tracks in all, and those of a certain vintage should be able to spot the sample on lead track * i still have the photographs*. as always for those to whom such things matters - theres the usual full colour shrink-wrapped artwork with a download code.

bcr v02 is the second vinyl release by bcr. this time its ad.lib (bcr, gynoid, affin) who produced the original and the remixes are done by rebekah (clr), joseph mcgeechan (bcr, prosthetic pressings) und monya (bcr, if?). she lost control is track title and announcement at the same time here. all of the four versions have this certain raw and uncompromising sound. they all work with the topic of loosing control on different levels. the very personal interpretations of the four artists share a hypnotic and alienating atmosphere. the prominent synth blips reminds of stroboskopic lights and excessive nights.
